How God Sent Me a Letter: A Story of Faith and Confirmation in South Korea

God Sent me a Letter

I don’t know if you believe in God or not. And if you do, I’m not sure if you believe He’s capable of sending letters. I didn’t, at first. But God sent me a letter and below I will tell you the story.

I remember when a friend told me that God had once given her a letter. I was skeptical, honestly, and couldn’t quite believe it. How could God be capable of writing a letter? It seemed so far-fetched to me at the time.

But, here’s the story of how God gave me a beautiful letter to confirm that I was on the right path. 🤍

If you’ve read my previous post, you already know why I decided to embark on a four-month trip to Asia and Australia. I expressed all my fears about this adventure in that post. But on the 5th day of my trip, something happened that completely changed my perspective and gave me the confirmation I needed. God used a simple letter to remind me that He was walking with me on this journey.

A Surprising Discovery in South Korea

On the 5th day of my four-month trip, I was in South Korea, the country where I chose to begin my adventure. It was around 7:00 PM on November 2, 2023, when I arrived back at my hostel after a long day exploring Mount Seoraksan, Nami Island, and the Garden of Morning Calm.

As usual, when staying in hostels, I locked away my belongings in the locker. But that evening, I had trouble opening it—it was stuck. After several attempts, I finally pulled it open with all my might, and as the locker opened, an envelope fell out from the bottom edge. BTW In this particular case I was staying at G Guest House Hostel in Itaewon! Amazing Hostel and well located, just about 5 minutes away from Itaewon Meto Station.

Finding the Mysterious Letter

Generally there’s always a small gap in lockers where things can slip through, and I guess the letter had been there all along, but I had never noticed it before. First of all because the envelope was white and the color of the locker was white as well. When the envelope fell to the floor, my first thought was, “Wow! I found some lost money!” (Hahaha, shame on me!) But as I picked it up, I realized there was no money inside. Instead, there was something much more meaningful—a letter addressed to “Karen” (with an N, not an M).

At first, I thought the letter might be for me, as it had some of the countries I was planning to visit written on the cover. I was a bit freaked out and wondered who had left it there. But upon closer inspection, I saw it was addressed to “Karen” with an N, and it listed other countries I hadn’t planned to visit at that time, like Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan.

A Message That Resonated Deeply

Curious, I opened the letter, and as I read it, I was in complete shock. The letter was addressed to a daughter named Karen A2 (I’m not sure what “A2” stands for), from her parents. The advice in this letter was powerful—it was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment.

The letter’s message confirmed the very reasons I had decided to go on this trip. The parents wrote that the purpose of the journey was not just to explore new places or learn about other cultures, but to learn about yourself—to figure out what you want to do with your life, what you want to become, and how are you going to achieve it. (They where writing this to their Daughter)

God’s Encouragement Through a Letter

This letter was more than just a coincidence. For me, it was a reminder from God about the true purpose of my trip. As a loving Father, He sent me these words of encouragement on the second side of the letter:

  • Keep Saying These Things to Yourself:
    1. Believe, Believe, Believe
    2. If you have faith, nothing shall be impossible to you.
    3. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Learning and Growing Through the Journey

During this adventure, I’ve learned so much about myself. I’m still figuring out many things, but I am certain that God is walking with me and guiding me through this process.

This is just a small story I wanted to share with both believers and non-believers alike. It’s a reminder of how God works in mysterious ways, connecting situations, people, and purposes to speak into your life.

About Me and My Journey

If you’re new to this blog, my name is Karem, and I’m on a journey of exploration, trying new things, and figuring out what I want to do with my life—all while enjoying the process along the way.
