Reasons Why I Recommend Booking a Hostel for No More Than Two Days

Reasons to Book a Hostel for a Minimum of 2 Nights When Traveling:

Whenever I travel to unfamiliar places and I’m unsure how much I’ll connect with the destination or how much I’ll enjoy it, I always book a hostel for just 2 nights, no matter what.

With hostels, you never know what to expect. Some can be fantastic, clean, and offer all kinds of great amenities and activities to make your stay delightful. Others, however, might not be what you imagined. Sometimes they don’t live up to the reviews, or maybe the atmosphere or vibe just isn’t for you.

So, if you’re new to solo traveling or the digital nomad lifestyle, I recommend reading this entire post!

😊 Pros of Booking a Hostel for a Minimum of Two Nights:

  • You get to experience the two most important aspects, for me, when deciding whether to extend your stay: cleanliness and comfort.
  • In two days, you’ll know whether a city or beach destination is worth staying longer or if it’s time to move on.
  • For digital nomads, two days is enough to check how reliable the Wi-Fi is.
  • If you don’t like the hostel, you can leave without losing much money.

🙃Cons of Booking a Hostel for Only Two Nights:

  • If you’re in a high-tourist spot like Koh Tao, Thailand (read my story about how I got stranded without a hostel in Koh Tao), you run the risk of losing out on all the good options if you decide to stay longer since they get booked up quickly. In these cases, it’s better to do your research and, during peak seasons, book all the nights of your stay upfront.
  • If you want to extend your stay but the hostel is full, you might end up having to move to a different place, which can be exhausting.

My Top 3 Apps to Book Hostels and Accommodation:

  1. Hostelworld
  2. Booking.com
  3. Agoda.com

PSSST.. Don’t tell anyone about this…🤭

Ok, this is something I probably shouldn’t say, but in some hostels, if you book directly with them, you can get a cheaper price 🤩.

Some hostels where I found it cheaper to book directly are:

I’m sure there are tons of hostels that offer discounts for booking directly, but these are the two that stood out to me.

I hope this information is helpful for you as a new traveller, and that you start to embrace the adventure of wandering and figuring things out as you go in the land of the unknown each time you arrive in a new place.

Cheers, and safe travels! If you’re doubting, stop! BOOK THAT TICKET AND GO!

With love,
