A city of the Future!!

24 Hours in Hong Kong: What to do?

Imagine a city where the past meets the future in a seamless fusion of tradition and innovation. Welcome to Hong Kong, where skyscrapers pierce the sky, neon lights illuminate the night, and technology is woven into every aspect of daily life.

This is how I spent my first 24 hours in Hong Kong trying to add as many activities as I could in one day.

1. Wan Chai and Victoria Harbour

I Booked a Hostel near Wan Chai Area, a quite comfortable Hostel, very little but it was OK regarding Hong Kong and its housing crisis. First thing in the morning I explored Wan Chai and the surrounding Areas, I walked from the Hostel to The Victoria Harbour and walked around it a little bit. As I had few days in Hong Kong I Wanted to do as much as I could so I did quite a lot of things on my firs 24 Hours in Hong Kong. After Walking around Wan Chai and The Victoria Harbour I head off to the famous Monster Building featured in Transformers movie the Age of Extinction.

Time Exploring the Area: 2-3 Hours

2. The Monster Building

I went to the famous Monster Building. The Metro system in Hong Kong works very well is like the Tube in London it takes you to absolutely every corner of the city. Here is the Google Map Guide to get there from wherever you are staying at.

Time spent in the place: 1 Hour ( I took a lot of pictures)

3.Choi Hung Estate

The Choi Hung Estate is a stunning residential complex in Hong Kong, renowned for its vibrant and colorful design. Its unique aesthetic makes it one of the most Instagrammable spots in the city, attracting countless photographers and visitors each year. If you’re passionate about photography or architecture, this is a must-visit destination!

Time Spent: 1:30

4. Chi Lin Nunnery

After exploring the vibrant Choi Hung Estate, I made my way to the Chi Lin Nunnery, a serene Buddhist temple complex in Hong Kong. Built in the Tang Dynasty architectural style, the nunnery is an oasis of peace amidst the bustling city, featuring elegant wooden structures, lotus ponds, and beautifully landscaped gardens.

As it’s conveniently located near the tranquil Nan Lian Garden, this makes for the perfect next stop to continue immersing yourself in Hong Kong’s cultural and natural beauty. The garden’s meticulously designed paths and traditional pavilions perfectly complement the ambiance of the nunnery.

5. Nan Lian Garden

Nan Lian Garden is a beautifully landscaped oasis in Hong Kong, designed in the classical Tang Dynasty style. This tranquil garden features lush greenery, koi ponds, traditional wooden pavilions, and serene pathways, offering a perfect escape from the city’s hustle and bustle.

This is such a nice place, very relaxing and one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen besides the Garden of Morning Calm in South Korea.

Time Spent: 3 Hours

6. Kowloon Walled City

The Kowloon Walled City was once a densely populated and ungoverned settlement in Hong Kong, known for its maze-like structure of interconnected buildings. Originally a Chinese military fort, it evolved into a community of over 30,000 residents living in a compact area of just 2.6 hectares. Despite its chaotic appearance and reputation for lawlessness, the Walled City functioned with its own unique order, housing businesses, schools, and families. Demolished in 1994, it is now the site of Kowloon Walled City Park, where visitors can explore tranquil gardens and remnants of its fascinating history, offering a stark contrast to its past.

Time Spent Here: 2 Hours

7. Tsim Tsa Chui

This was my favourite activity in whole Hong Kong! To be honest when palling my trip to Asia Hong Kong was not on my plans. But it definitely caught me by surprise. There is Magic when you don’t do a lot of research about a place and you just simply land and let the city surprise you in many different ways. This place is quite crowded at night.

This is what happened to me in Hong Kong. I visited to meet a friend but did not do enough research beforehand I just landed there and started exploring and it was amazing! My favourite things to do where walking along Tsim Tsa Shui at night and watch the show A Symphony of Lights that happens every night at 10:00PM. From here you can also head to the avenue of stars and just relaxing watching the most beautiful Skyline of Hong Kong.

Time Spent: 3 Hours.

Hong Kong is an Amazing City with plenty of things to do! There are very cheap flights from the Philippines to Hong Kong or if you have a stopover here it is worth it to spend 24 hours in Hong Kong.
